But Clevenger Mercantile in Caruthers -- part hardware store, part ag supply and part general store -- celebrated its centennial over the weekend, giving away 2,000 tri-tip sandwiches and rehashing memories with customers among the coveralls, muffin tins and fertilizer sprayer tips.
The store joins an elite group of Valley companies that have passed the century mark. Tulare-based feed company J.D. Heiskell & Company, for example, is 124 years old. Fresno Ag Hardware is 132, and Sassano's menswear in Clovis is 101.

Musson General Contracting is proudly sponsoring Fresno City’s Billion Dollar Tour.  This city is coming to life and we want to be part of it!  We chose to sponsor this event for two main reasons:  support for our city and the people who live in it. At MGC we want to revitalize the downtown sector and encourage more businesses to locate in Fresno. We feel we are bringing life back to our community.  Once so many people became involved in the revitalization of downtown Fresno, we have noticed a great change socially and architecturally – it’s exciting for everyone!

Another organization that featured a Musson General Contracting building is the 1000 Friends of Fresno. The 1000 Friends of Fresno is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of all the citizens in the community.  This article focuses on the importance of revitalizing downtown Fresno while maintaining its heritage.
